Hyaluronic acid is...

For almost two decades, hyaluronic acid has been in constant demand as a miracle remedy for post-acne, wrinkles and sagging skin. Today it is used by dermatologists for anti-aging or corrective procedures, doctors to treat and restore human tissue, plus it is available to us in creams and lotions for daily home hair care. Let's consider whether hyaluronic acid is so effective and why?
What kind of substance is this and what task does it perform?
Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide that is synthesized in the human body. Its main role is to distribute moisture in tissues. This is possible due to the ability of hyaluronic acid to attract and hold water molecules like a microscopic sponge. A large amount of this substance is formed in the skin, and specifically in its intercellular space. By stimulating the production of collagen and elastane, hyaluronic acid fills extracellular structures and forms a kind of elastic frame that mechanically supports cells.
As a result of these natural biological processes, a person receives healthy, elastic, tightened skin. Today, with age, their intensity invariably decreases, less and less substances are produced, the consequences are that vision deteriorates, the performance of joints and muscles decreases, the skin begins to sag, becomes more dehydrated, flabby and wrinkles appear.
How is hyaluronic acid used in cosmetology?
The substance was first discovered in the structure of the vitreous body of the eye in 1934, but it began to be used for the production of cosmetics only half a century later. In practice, hyaluronic acid in various forms helps eliminate the following defects:
- moisturizing facial skin;
- removal of scars after acne;
- slowing down the process of skin aging;
- increasing volume or eliminating lip asymmetry;
- correction of oval face;
- correction of the shape of the nose, cheekbones, chin;
- eliminating wrinkles, filling deep folds.
Modern cosmetology uses hyaluronic acid of 2 different types: low molecular weight and high molecular weight. The first type of substance is used as the main moisturizing component in daily care products (masks, creams, lotions). Once on the surface of the skin, hyaluronic acid forms a thin film that protects the skin from dehydration, helps beneficial substances penetrate deeper, but during the process it does not seal the pores or interfere with natural gas exchange.
For rejuvenation and correction of defects, a high-molecular type is used, which is injected into the deep layers of the skin. Such procedures help solve problems associated not only with age-related changes, but also with congenital defects. Biorevitalization, plus contour plastic, mesotherapy give instant lasting results, but, being invasive, are carried out only by experienced, qualified cosmetologists to reduce the risk of complications or allergic reactions.
Cosmetologists have proven, reviews from clients of cosmetology centers in Kyiv confirm that hyaluronic acid plays a huge role in biological processes. Research into its properties is still ongoing. Today, scientists are already demonstrating the possibility of producing drugs for lip refreshing and fight against cancer, which will preserve not only beauty, but also protect human life and health.
