New Volkswagen Polo - what are the Germans preparing?

The premiere of the new Volkswagen Polo is quickly approaching. The appearance of the model still remains a mystery, so visualizations constantly appear on the World Wide Web. These visualizations represent the authors' guesses and fantasies, but the real plans of the German automaker remain a closely guarded secret.

Artist Kleber Silva, who closely follows events in Wolfsburg (where the central Volkswagen plant is located), believes that we should expect dramatic changes in the design of the Polo. The enthusiast’s thoughts were prompted by the official presentation of the Volkswagen Arteon liftback in Geneva.

If the artist's guesses are correct, the new version of the Polo will have one of the most interesting city cars in Europe. We do not yet know whether the manufacturer will take such a bold step. The German brand is traditionally associated with stylistic conservatism and subtle changes. At the end of March this year, a prototype of the new Polo was discovered by journalists almost without camouflage in South Africa. Its appearance was so similar to the version currently being produced that many considered it a variant of the car project preliminary.

Polo will be built on the MQB platform, which was used to create the new Seat Ibiza. Passengers in this car will feel more comfortable inside the cabin due to the increased legroom. Reducing the weight of the entire structure will have a positive effect on the handling of the car. The German manufacturer intends to limit the range of available engines from 14 to 12. The main offer will remain three- and four-cylinder engines, but a hybrid version of the GTI (2 liters, 200 hp) will also appear.

The premiere of the new Volkswagen Polo is planned at the Frankfurt Motor Show. In the near future, in addition to the standard Polo offering, a crossover built on the same platform will be released. The manufacturer does not disclose more detailed information about the SUV.
